LA Galaxy Bring in Dominic Kinnear As Assistant Coach

LA Galaxy manager Sigi Schmid has brought in Dominic Kinnear as the assistant manager. This is widely seen as a move designed to help the club recover from an astonishingly poor run of form.

Galaxy have been pushed to the 10th place in the Western Conference table after a string of nine matches without a victory. The last win for Galaxy was back in June when they managed a close victory over Colorado Rapids. Since then, the team has suffered a string of defeats in all competitions. Even after the arrival of Sigi Schmid as the new manager, this form shows no signs of reviving.

The new manager has suffered a defeat against New York City, Columbus Crew, and San Jose Earthquakes. More worryingly, Galaxy have not scored in the last three matches. As a result, the club have effectively given up hope of reaching the latter stages of the MLS 2017.Schmid happens to be one of the experienced managers in the MLS, but he has decided to bring in another revered name in the league – Dominic Kinnear – as the assistant manager. LA Galaxy president Chris Klein claims that the arrival of Kinnear will add significant experience to the backroom staff, and it will substantially help the club going forward.

Kinnear has been one of the successful coaches in the MLS and is only behind Sigi Schmid and Bruce Arena in terms of total MLS victories. “We are excited to welcome Dominic Kinnear to our club. With his resume as a coach, talent evaluator and architect of successful teams in our league, Dominic will be an invaluable addition to Sigi, Pete and our soccer operations staff as we continue to build our team. We are confident that this group will help us construct a competitive team for the rest of this season and into the future. With Sigi and Dom on staff we now have the most experienced and successful coaching staff in our league,” said Chris Klein.
